A devoted, tireless artist whose purposeful direction and stubborn perseverance had no boundaries. His passionate direction, careful preparation of concert programs, and meticulous attention to selection of music combined to reflect in all elements the Armenian spirit and character. Acknowledged as a purist in the art of directing and in the authentic interpretation of Armenian music.

Biography

Maestro Arsen Sayan came to the United States in 1957. He established himself in Philadelphia, where he was appointed choirmaster of St. Gregory Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church. Sayan he established the combined Choir and Choral Group of St. Gregory. 

Music

Maestro Arsen Sayan’s musical career spans more than 50 years in Armenian communities and churches across United States, Lebanon, Syria, and Armenia. He is acknowledged as a purist in the art of directing and authentic interpretation of Armenian Music.

Philanthropy

Maestro Arsen Sayan sponsored the complete renovation of the Argavand music school in Armenia and was present at the reopening ceremony in September 2014 when the school was named after him. A scholarship in his name is given to a music student each year.
